Als Entgegnung auf diesen Schrei, der von der Erde aufsteigt, erklingt im Himmel ein liturgisch geprägter jubelnder Chor, der neben dem Halleluja auch das Amen wiederholt.

Am Schluß wird das »Halleluja« angefügt (ausgenommen in der Fastenzeit), das jüdische Wort für »Lobt den Herrn«, das für die Christen eine frohe Kundgabe des Vertrauens in den Schutz geworden ist, den Gott seinem Volk gewährt.

9. Late at night the solemn Easter Vigil will begin, during which the joyful singing of the Gloria and Easter Alleluia will well up from the hearts of the newly baptized and the entire Christian community, rejoicing because Christ is risen and has conquered death.

Spät in der Nacht wird die feierliche Ostervigil beginnen, bei der dann in jeder Kirche der freudige Gesang des »Gloria« und des »österlichen Halleluja« aus den Herzen der Neugetauften und der ganzen christlichen Gemeinschaft emporsteigen wird, in der Freude, daß Christus auferstanden ist und den Tod besiegt hat.
