Some may have fathers who are physically present but emotionally absent or in other ways inattentive or nonsupportive.

And they awoke to their obligation to exalt God’s personal name, Jehovah, above all other names.

But most of us, I think, accept some small role for the state to enforce a duty of care, and the key word here is reasonable.

Because of the prevalence of fornication, it may be advisable for a man or a woman to be married, and those who are married should not be depriving each other of conjugal dues.

17. (고둘 3:1-3) 하지만 그는 자신이 종임을 겸손하게 인정했으며(빌 1:1), 좋은 소식을 선포할 의무를 느꼈다.

(2Co 3:1-3) Yet he humbly acknowledged that he was a slave (Php 1:1), obligated to declare the good news.

18. 그들은 ‘피를 멀리하라’는 그리스도인의 성경적인 의무를 범하지 않는 한 생명을 연장시키려는 의사와 과학자의 노력에 감사한다.—사도 15:20, 29.

Moreover, they appreciate the efforts of physicians and scientists to prolong life, whenever these efforts do not violate the Christian’s Scriptural obligation to ‘abstain from blood.’ —Acts 15:20, 29.

19. 이스라엘 백성은 그 상태를 시정하기 위하여 하나님께서 그들을 풍성하게 축복해 주시리라는 믿음을 가지고 순결한 숭배를 위한 의무를 이행해야 하였다.

To remedy this situation, the Israelites needed to fulfill their obligations toward pure worship with faith that God would bless them abundantly.

20. 그리고 바람을 피우는 남편들은 자기 아내에 대한 의무를 속이는 행위 즉 아내가 게으르다거나 자기에게 감사하지 않는다는 이유를 들어 합리화하려고 한다.

Then again, a philandering husband may rationalize his cheating on obligations to his wife on the basis that she is lazy or does not appreciate him.

21. 오늘날 부모에 대한 의무를 회피하려는 마음이 생기게 할 수 있는 일들 가운데는 어떤 일들이 있읍니까? 그것은 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 있읍니까?

What may motivate some today to evade their parental duties, and is this pleasing to God?

22. 유전학과 행동이라는 주제에 관해 다음과 같은 질문들이 생깁니다. 우리는 우리의 의무를 버리고 우리의 행동에 대해 어떠한 책임도 지지 않을 수 있습니까?

On the subject of genetics and behavior, the questions arise: Can we abdicate our responsibilities and accept no blame for our actions?

23. (엡 5:23) 하지만 그리스도도 역시 머리 직분을 가지셨기 때문에 회중을 돌보고 자신의 결정에 대해 책임을 질 의무를 받아들이지 않으면 안 되신다.

(Eph 5:23) But his headship also obliges him to accept the duty of caring for the congregation and bearing responsibility for his decisions.

24. 27 그러므로 ‘여호수아’는 천사로부터 권고하는 증거를 명심하고 여호와의 길로 순종적으로 걸을 것이었으며 양심적으로 여호와께 대한 의무를 지켜 언급된 특권에 합당함을 증명할 것이었읍니다.

27 Hence Joshua would take to heart the admonitory witness from the angel and walk obediently in Jehovah’s way and conscientiously keep his obligation to Jehovah, so as to prove worthy of the privileges mentioned.

25. (베드로 전 3:16) 그러나 어떤 그리스도인들은 배심원 의무를 받아들였지만, 성서에 근거한 그들의 생각이 세속 법과 차이가 있을 때에는 그 사건에서 제외시켜 줄 것을 요청하였다.

3:16) Other Christians, though, have accepted jury duty but have asked to be excused from those cases where they felt their Bible-based thinking would be at variance with secular laws.

Regarding pride events, the report noted that: “In some States, such events are denied police protection or permits ... abrogating the State’s duty to uphold freedom of assembly and to protect LGBT persons from violence.”

27. 어느 시대에서든 하나님에 대한 의무를 달성하는 일의 중요한 부분은 예수 그리스도의 제자가 되는 것으로서, 이는 우리가 “와서 나를 따르라”(누가복음 18:22)는 그분의 권유를 받아들이는 것을 의미합니다.

An important part of fulfilling our duty to God at any age is to become a disciple of Jesus Christ, which means that we accept His invitation to “come, follow me” (Luke 18:22).

28. 두 기업이 환경이나 물에 대한 기업의 영향력을 최소화하는데 성공했을 때, 두 기업이 건강이나 안전과 관련된 의무를 충실히 수행할 때, 그리고 강력한 직원 교육 프로그램을 도입할 때 기업 이윤이 3.4% 증가했다는 뜻입니다.

And when they also add in strong employee training programs, they get a 3.4 percentage point premium on their margins.

29. 부모는 자녀를 사랑과 의로움으로 양육하고, 그들에게 물질적으로나 영적으로 필요한 사항을 충족시켜 주며, 그들이 서로 사랑하고 봉사하며, 하나님의 계명을 지키고, 어디서 살든지 법률을 준수하는 시민이 되도록 가르쳐야 할 거룩한 의무를 지니고 있다.

Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live.
