1. 여호와께서 미워하시는 것을 깊이 그리고 충심으로 미워하는 것, 그렇다, 그것을 증오하는 것이다.

Deeply and sincerely hating what Jehovah hates, yes, abhorring it: “Abhor what is wicked.”

2. “여호와를 경외[두려워]하는 것은 악을 미워하는 것이라.” 그리고 잠언 16:6은 이렇게 부언한다.

And Proverbs 16:6 adds: “In the fear of Jehovah one turns away from bad.”

Through their abstention from much of the community life —the pagan festivals, the public amusements . . . —they were derided as haters of the human race. . . .

Ah, there is the real test —actively to hate what is bad. —1 Peter 4:4; Amos 5:14, 15.

5. 그 미움은 악한 것을 아주 몹시 싫어하여 악한 것을 피하고 여호와를 심히 미워하는 자들을 피하는 행동으로 나타난다.

Rather, it finds expression in its utter abhorrence of what is wicked, avoiding what is bad and those intensely hating Jehovah.

6. 이 사람들은 대체로 동료 유대인들로부터 멸시받는 사람들인데, 그 이유는 유대인들이 미워하는 로마 당국을 위해 그들이 세금을 거두기 때문이다.

These men are generally despised by their fellow Jews because they collect taxes for the hated Roman authorities.

7. (출애굽 18:21) 오늘날 고위 종교, 정치, 사법 및 상업계의 인사들 중에서 실제로 불의한 이득을 미워하는 사람들을 찾아보기란 얼마나 힘든 실정인가!

18:21) How few today in high religious, political, judicial as well as commercial positions actually hate unjust profit!

8. 또한 그들은 공동체 생활을—그리스도인들이 보기에 이교 신앙과 관습과 부도덕에 흠뻑 젖어 있는 대중오락과 이교 축제를—대부분 멀리했기 때문에 인류를 미워하는 사람들이라는 조롱도 받았다.”

9. 사전 대책을 세우는 것 이외에도 우리가 해야할 것은 바꾸는 것입니다. 제도와 정책들 내에 있는 증오감들을 말이죠. 그 증오감들은 비인간화와 차별 그리고 다른 사람을 구분하고 미워하는 감정을 지속시킵니다. 이것은 직장 내 성희롱, 성폭행과 유사한 시스템이죠. 또는 우리의 매우 깊은 인종적인 불균형과 깊이 뿌리 내린 인종 차별적 형법 제도들도 지속시킵니다.

So in addition to promoting those proactive solutions, the other thing we need to do is upend the hate in our institutions and our policies that perpetuate dehumanization and difference and otherizing and hate, like systems of sexual harassment and sexual assault in the workplace, or our deeply racially imbalanced and deeply racially biased criminal "justice" system.
