본 발명은 혼합금속산화물 촉매를 이용한 질소산화물의 분해처리 방법에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 흡장 성능이 뛰어난 하이드로탈사이트형 전구체로부터 제조된 혼합 금속 산화물 촉매를 사용하여 엔진 연소시의 배기가스에서 희박 질소산화물을 분해 처리하는 방법을 제공함으로써, 이에 의하여 희박 NOx 및 N2O를 산소와 분리 흡착한 후 별도의 환원제 없이 엔진의 리치(Rich) 가동시 배기가스의 CO 및 HC를 환원제로 사용하여 흡장된 질소산화물을 분해 탈착함으로써 배기가스에서 질소산화물을 효율적으로 제거할 수 있는 장점이 있다.
