1. Roads in the towns were straight and long, intersecting one another at right angles.

प्राय: किलों की परिधि में नगर तथा मुख्य दुर्ग दोनों ही रहते थे।

If two straight lines in a plane are crossed by another straight line (called the transversal), and the interior angles between the two lines and the transversal lying on one side of the transversal add up to less than two right angles, then on that side of the transversal, the two lines extended will intersect (also called the parallel postulate).

अगर एक समतल में दो सीधी रेखाओं को एक अन्य सीधी रेखा काटती है (जिसे ट्रांसवर्सल (अनुप्रस्थ) कहते हैं) और दो रेखाओं के बीच के आंतरिक कोण एवं अनुप्रस्थ के एक ओर लेटी अनुप्रस्थ रेखा का जोड़ दो समकोणों से कम होता है तब अनुप्रस्थ के उस ओर विस्तारित की गयी दो रेखाएं एक दूसरे को काटेंगी (जिसे समानांतर अभिधारणा भी कहते हैं)।
