21. In this regard, the developed major economies will implement, consistent with international obligations, economy-wide mid-term goals and take corresponding actions in order to achieve absolute emission reductions and, where applicable, first stop the growth of emissions as soon as possible, reflecting comparable efforts among them.

इस संदर्भ में विश्व की महत्वपूर्ण एवं विकसित अर्थव्यवस्था वाले देश अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाध्यता के अनुरूप अपनी अर्थव्यवस्था के विस्तार के अनुरूप मध्यवर्ती लक्ष्य तैयार करेंगे और उनका कार्यान्वयन करेंगे।

22. It has been argued in some quarters that the reference in the Declaration to a scientific view that global temperature increase should not exceed two degrees centigrade, represents a significant shift in India‟s position on climate change, and that it may oblige us to accept emission reduction targets.

The two leaders also affirmed that the Copenhagen outcome must be comprehensive and cover mitigation, adaptation, finance and technology, and in accordance with the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities, it should reflect emission reduction targets of developed countries and nationally appropriate mitigation actions of developing countries.

दोनों नेताओं ने इस बात की भी पुष्टि की कि कोपेनहेगन का परिणाम निश्चित रूप से व्यापक होना चाहिए और साझे परन्तु भिन्न दायित्वों एवं अलग-अलग क्षमताओं के सिद्धांत के अनुसार इसमें प्रशमन, अनुकूलन, वित्त एवं प्रौद्योगिकी को भी शामिल किया जाना चाहिए। इसमें विकसित देशों के उत्सर्जन, न्यूनीकरण लक्ष्यों एवं विकासशील देशों के लिए राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर उपयुक्त प्रशमन कार्रवाइयों को भी स्थान दिया जाना चाहिए।

24. And if we focus on our historical emission trend in recent years, and we put that together with our understanding of the direction of travel in our global economy, then we are much more on track for a four-degree centigrade global warming than we are for the two-degree centigrade.

The Ministers stressed that in accordance with the Convention principle of differentiation, the commitments of the developed countries to be included in the INDCs should be quantified economy-wide emission reduction targets for mitigation and provision of finance, technology development and transfer as well as capacity building support to developing countries for their mitigation and adaptation actions.
