2. As a lasting testimony to that execution of Jehovah’s judgment, a big pile of stones was raised up over Achan himself, and the location was called “Low Plain of Achor,” which name means “Ostracism; Trouble.”

Als bleibendes Zeugnis für diese Vollstreckung des Urteils Jehovas wurde über Achan ein großer Steinhaufen errichtet, und man nannte die Stelle „Tief gelegene Ebene Achor“ — ein Name, der „Betrübnis, Schwierigkeit“ bedeutet.

3. At Hosea 2:15 Jehovah recalls Israel’s youth at the time of the Exodus, and in a prophecy of restoration from future captivity, he promises that “the low plain of Achor,” once a place of ostracism, will then become “as an entrance to hope.”
