In 26 patients with chronic idiopathic constipation, sponta-neous balloon expulsion was effected each time the artificial pacemaker was operated, and in 11 patients with idiopathic fecal incontinence, the pulsing of the internal anal sphincter succeeded in elevating the rectal neck pressure, thereby aborting the rectoanal inhibitory reflex and the desire to defecate.

Bei elf Patienten mit idiopathischer fäkaler Inkontinenz konnte durch Pulsation des inneren Analsphinkters des Druck im Rektumhals erhöht werden, womit der rektoanale Hemmreflex und damit der Defäkationsdrang unterdrückt wurden.
