And in an article entitled “World Stumbles into a Darkness,” the editor of the Miami Herald, U.S.A., asked his readers whether it had dawned on them “that Armageddon isn’t just some allegory that you read about in the Bible, it’s real,” and added: “Anyone with half a logical mind can put together the cataclysmic events of the past few years and see that the world is at a historic threshold. . . .

Weiter schrieb er: „Jeder, der halbwegs logisch denkt, kann angesichts der katastrophalen Ereignisse der vergangenen paar Jahre erkennen, daß die Welt an einer Schwelle der Geschichte steht. . . .

2. 13 Isaiah now alludes to one of the worst of the cataclysmic events that come upon the descendants of Abraham: “The obscureness will not be as when the land had stress, as at the former time when one treated with contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali and when at the later time one caused it to be honored —the way by the sea, in the region of the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.”

13 Jesaja weist jetzt auf eines der schlimmsten umwälzenden Ereignisse hin, die über die Nachkommen Abrahams kommen: „Die Düsterheit wird nicht so sein wie zu der Zeit, da das Land in Bedrängnis war, wie zu der früheren Zeit, als man das Land Sebulon und das Land Naphtali mit Verachtung behandelte und als man es zur späteren Zeit zu Ehren bringen ließ — den Weg am Meer, in der Gegend des Jordan, Galiläa der Nationen“ (Jesaja 9:1).
